Craziest McDonald’s Menu Items Found in Europe

Those famous Golden Arches from McDonald's are recognized around the world, with billions being served. You may know the menu inside and out, with go-to items you always pick for breakfast or lunch. But not all McDonald's are alike. Internationally, McDonald's offers menus with takes on local dishes and flavors. 

There are so many different menu items that in Europe alone you can find more than 30 unique ones, from desserts to pastries, burgers to sandwiches, snack-sized bites and even McDonald's fries. The famous red and yellow hues are even different! Take a look.

Big Mac

In the U.S., McDonald's is known for its Big Mac: two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions on a sesame seed bun.

But in other parts of the world, they like to get creative with toppings and cooking styles.

Le P'Tit Fondu

In France, McDonald's is referred to as McDo, and there you can get a hamburger topped with Emmentaler and raclette cheeses and crispy fried onions.

This little gem is called Le P'tit Fondu.

McKroket

In the Netherlands, McDonald's serves a fried patty made of cheese and beef known as a kroket. 

A mustard sauce perfectly complements this sandwich that is considered "world-famous" in the country.

Currywurst

Currywurst is a common street food item in Germany, so leave it to McDonald's to add it to its menu.

Sweety Con Nutella

Imagine a burger made with a chocolate, hazelnut filling. Good or bad? In Italy, they love it.

This "burger" is made with a bun of sweet bread stuffed with Nutella. It's meant to be a dessert, but we wouldn't judge if you ate it as your main course.

Le Bleu Cheese and Bacon

You can also get a double burger topped with blue cheese, bacon, onion and sauce from McDo's signature menu in France.

Panzerotti

It would be wrong of McDonald's to serve pasta in Italy, but the Italian love of cheese and tomato sauce is found in the Panzerotti.

It's a fried pastry filled with these two ingredients and is similar to a turnover.

Croque McDo

The most popular sandwich in France is the croque monsieur, a fancy ham and cheese on toasted bread.

It's made using gruyere cheese and dijon mustard — and at McDonald's, it's called the Croque McDo.

Sallad Kyckling och Belugalinser

In Sweden, healthy eating at McDonald's includes a chicken salad bucket, aka Sallad Kyckling och Belugalinser.

There is also a chicken and hummus option that is popular in Denmark.

Panini Tuscany

In Russia, enjoy an Italian-style panini. Inside are two beef steaks with Emmental cheese, fresh tomatoes, arugula and raw onions.

The bread is actually a fried pita, but the basil and herb cream sauce is much more Tuscan.

Greek Mac

The pita makes an appearance in Greece with the Greek Mac.

This is a Big Mac in a pita!

Kofte Burger

Across the sea, Turkey makes a Kofte burger out of spiced minced beef from Turkish doner kebabs. It includes an onion yogurt sauce and tomato sauce. Instead of a sesame seed bun, its bun features parsley.

This is available (and popular) in Croatia as well.

Macarons

McCafe in France features a full offering of pastries and bakery-worthy desserts. And, because it's France, macarons are also on the menu.
